Here's what it takes to obtain a Florida Real Estate Brokers License.

  • Complete and pass the state required 72 hour Broker Pre-License Course.  You will be given an end of course exam that you must pass with at least a 70%.  The exam is 95 multiple choice questions and includes a closing statement (5 questions relate to a closing statement and are worth 2 points each).

  • "Experience" Requirement - you must have held an active Sales Associate license for 12 months out of the past five years.  Licensure in another state besides Florida also counts as long your license (either broker or sales associate) was active for 12 months of the past five years.

  • If licensed in Florida, you must complete the Sales Associate Post-License 45 hour Course prior to obtaining your Broker's license.

  • Take the state exam and pass with at least a 75%.  The state exam is also 95 multiple choice questions.  Before the state will allow you to take the state exam, you must meet the above requirements, including successful completion of the Broker Pre-License course, and be issued a Course Completion Certificate by a state approved real estate school (or other such organization authorized under F.S. 475.451).

  • Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.

NOTE:  You do not have to be a Florida resident or a U.S. citizen.
